what do you do when the person you’re dating says, “i’m just not looking for anything serious?” in my opinion, that’s a total excuse for not saying, “i’m just not that interested in you, for any number of reasons, but this sounds much better.” i think if you’re interested enough, you’ll probably hang out and continue dating, in hopes of changing his or her mind. and you know what, i’m rooting for you. i do hope things work out for you but at the same time, you’ve got to build in that layer of protection so that you don’t get too hurt and can walk away from it if need be.
scarlet hair! you can’t beat that! and i love the borderless first panel! stay tuned though, the next three weeks should be exciting as i prepare for my second year at Orlando’s MegaCon event, where i’ll be sporting a booth again!

get ready for an explosion of art! we’ll start off slow with a Polaroid-like shot of remy, ivy, and finn.
now, this strip depicts it very lightly, but ragging among friends seems to be an age old tradition. the customary greeting among friends (more likely among male friends?) to insult each other upon seeing each other is hilarious! how did this start?! i would argue that it’s a form of showing affection and appreciation, but it’s a society barrier to explicitly express that to each other. therefore, instead of saying, “hey, it’s wonderful to talk to you again, i missed you,” we say, “hey, no wonder i haven’t seen you in awhile, i’d want to hide that face too.”
had a good time drawing the strip this week. the joke and also the last panel idea was given to me by lance, who is a constant source of humor ideas. got a little lazy drawing any actual hiking background, but hopefully i’m saying more by drawing less!

ever heard of yuri’s night? it’s a celebration across the world held on april 12 commemorating yuri gagarin, the first person to launch into space in 1961. it’s also the day of the first space shuttle launch, later in 1981. there celebrations occur all over the place, and it just so happens my friends have been throwing the one here on the space coast for the last several years. this year i finally got off my bumpkin and drew them an image, maybe to be used on t-shirts and such.
it’s amazing how people morph and adapt to each others habits. i’m not talking about just significant others, but also friends. it seems like the more time we spend with each other, the more we pick up habits, ways of doing things, when to do things, etc. i find it amazing because even with just myself, i know i have tons of things that i do just the way i like it. where i leave the remote controls. how i have used cups all over the house. but yet, it’s so easy to ‘mesh’ with someone too. there’s been times when i’ve shown up to parties or work wearing the same thing as my friend. i guess i’ll draw the line when i start showing up wearing the same things as my girl friends.
been wanting to do a nighttime scene for awhile now. pretty basic stuff. next time i’ll throw in some window moonlight and maybe cast shadows. simple and fun.

for this week’s strip, i was thinking about how in the morning, as we’re waking up, practically every position is comfortable. your arm could be bent backwards, going numb, and you’d swear this is the most comfortable position ever! throw in the added factor of your significant other and it’s easy to see why it’s easy not to get up and spend all morning (or day) just in bed.
as for the artwork, i forgot one crucial element to the bed scene – pillows! but i did like how the stripes on the sheets turned out, as well as the various sleeping positions. although, it is a comic strip and therefore i should have exaggerated the awkwardness of the sleeping positions more.
